Non Return Valves (NRV) Manufacturer in India
A Non-Return Valve (NRV), also known as a check valve, is a type of valve that allows fluid (liquid or gas) to flow in one direction only and automatically prevents backflow and prevent probable contamination, Equipment damage or slowdown the intended purpose of the valve. It is a self-acting automated devise, that does not require any human intervention or any external power supply to function.
Manufacturer: CAIR Euromatic Automation Pvt. Ltd.
Intention of NRV’s
- To ensure unidirectional flow in pipelines.
- To protect pumps, compressors, and other equipment from damage due to reverse flow.
- To prevent contamination when fluids / chemicals from different lines are connected.
- To maintain system pressure and avoid back flow to upstream.
Principle of Working
The valve operates on differential pressure (Balancing Pressure at upstream and Down Stream):
- NRV’s have Inletand Outlet
- When the upstream pressure(Inlet) is greater than the downstream pressure (outlet), the valve opens, allowing fluid flow.
- In a reverse way, When the downstream pressure is higher, the valve closes automatically, blocking reverse flow.
This automatic open and close action is achieved using a disc, ball, Piston or flap mechanism depending on the design.
Applications – Main purpose to stop any backward flow.
- During Water Supply Systemsto prevent backflow and prevent contamination of water.
- To avoid reverse flow, which will cause damaging of equipment’.
- For maintaining flow integrity in pipelines which may cause for some disasters like oil / gas leakage.
- Chemical Plants– To prevent mixing of incompatible fluids and or unproportioned mixing.
- Steam and Condensate Lines– To stop condensate from flowing back into steam systems.
- Domestic Useslike Sprinklers, heating processes, rainwater harvesting system etc.
Advantages
- Automatic operation (no manual intervention required) and energy loss will be minimum.
- Prevents equipment damage and fluid contamination.
- Simple construction and relatively low cost and low maintenance.
- Available in a wide range of sizes and MOC (cast iron, stainless steel, PVC, brass, etc.).
Limitations
- This is not a shutoff valve and cannot be used as control valve.
- Due to variation in flow and pressure, Flow resistance is higher compared to a straight pipeline.
- Prone to damage flow system if frequent backflow occurs.
- Water hitting may occur in some type designs if flow suddenly occurs
Conclusion:
A Non-Return Valve is a simple critical component in piping systems that make sure fluid flows in only one direction, safeguarding equipment, maintaining system reliability, improved productivity and preventing contamination.
